Motorcycle Investigation Identifies Drug Dealer

Hamilton Police investigated an unplated motorcycle in the east end. The rider’s licence was suspended and he was found to be in possession of illicit drugs. He was taken into custody and will appear in court later today, the motorcycle was seized by police for further investigation.

On Wednesday, April 3, 2019, shortly after 8:00 p.m., a Hamilton Police officer observed an unplated motorcycle being operated on Woodward Avenue north of Melvin Avenue. A traffic stop was conducted with the intention of confirming the status of the motorcycle, its rider and to address the Ontario Highway Traffic Act violation. Through investigation, police learned the licence of the rider had been suspended and he was arrested. During a search of the rider, police located an undisclosed amount of Crystal Meth along with other evidence supporting the trafficking of illicit drugs. He was advised of the additional charge in relation to the possession of the drugs.

A further investigation by the BEAR Unit into the status of the motorcycle is required. It has been seized by police. Additional charges related to the motorcycle are pending.

The rider was bound by a court order for failing to appear in court. He was taken into police custody and is scheduled to appear at the John Sopinka Courthouse on Thursday, April 4, 2019, to answer to the criminal charge.

The rider was also issued several court summonses in relation to the Ontario Highway Traffic Act violations. He is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday, May 1, 2019.
