Motorcycle Rider Charged in Fatal Collision Involving Two Pedestrians

The Hamilton Police Collison Reconstruction Unit has continued to investigate a collision that resulted in one pedestrian being seriously injured and the other deceased. Police have now charged the operator of the motorcycle involved in the collision.

On Saturday, December 28, 2019, shortly after 5:00 p.m., a motorcycle was travelling eastbound on Mohawk Road East at Upper Gage when it collided with two pedestrians who were crossing Mohawk Road beyond the intersection. Through continued investigation by detectives from the Collision Reconstruction Unit, a 54-year-old Hamilton man has been charged with careless driving causing death and careless driving causing bodily harm.

He is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday, March 5, 2020, to answer to the charges.

The 89-year-old female pedestrian continues to slowly recover from her injuries.
