Motorcyclist Suffers Serious Injuries from Collision with SUV

The Hamilton Police Collision Reconstruction Unit continues to investigate a collision involving a motorcycle and an SUV that occurred last night on the mountain.

On Monday, July 12, at approximately 9:00 p.m., emergency service partners responded for a collision involving a 2007 Harley Davidson motorcycle and a 2010 Lincoln MKX SUV, at the intersection of Upper Wellington Street and Mohawk Road East.

Through investigation, police determined a 47-year-old Hamilton man was riding southbound on Upper Wellington Street on his 2007 Harley Davidson motorcycle. As he approached the above stated intersection he had a green light. At the same time a 2010 Lincoln SUV was travelling northbound on Upper Wellington. The SUV proceeded to turn left in front of the rider causing the vehicles to collide. The contact between the vehicles resulted in the rider falling off his motorcycle.

The rider was transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries. No injuries were incurred by the occupants of the SUV.

This morning, police learned the rider’s medical condition has improved and he is considered to be stabilized.

However, due to the severity of the injuries, the CRU has taken carriage of the investigation.

Witnesses who have not yet spoken to police are asked to call the CRU at 905.546.4753 or 905.546.4755
