Hamilton Police Service detectives have investigated a series of commercial break and enter incidents that occurred along Ottawa Street, King Street East and Barton Street East between November 2017 and January, 2018.

On Sunday, January 7, 2018, the Hamilton Police officers arrested two males for a break and enter to a variety store on King Street in the east end of the city. Further investigation led police to charge the two males with several early morning commercial break and enter incidents that occurred between November 2017 and January 2018.

The Hamilton Police Service would like to thank the members of the public who came forward to assist police during the night of arrest. Their immediate call to police and the information they provided was vital to the arrest of the males.

James Demerchant 41 years from Hamilton

Charges:

• Break and Enter commit x2 
• Possession under $5000
• Disguise with intent x2

Richard Gautreau 48 years from Hamilton

Charges:

• Break and Enter commit x3 
• Possession under $5000 
• Disguise with intent x3
