Out of Town Drug Dealers Arrested at Traffic Stop

A proactive traffic stop results in the arrest of the vehicle’s occupants for possession of drugs. Further investigation resulted in police seizing crack cocaine, crystal meth and several items to support the trafficking of drugs. Appropriate charges have been laid.

On Thursday, March 7, 2019, shortly after 7:30 p.m., police observed a black BMW travelling at a high rate of speed on King William Street, east of Ferguson Avenue North. At the intersection of King William and Victoria Avenue North the vehicle stopped for the traffic light. An unknown object was then seen thrown from the front seat area to the rear. The vehicle proceeded northbound on Victoria Avenue before the light changed to green. A traffic stop was conducted for the Highway Traffic Act Violation. As police approached the vehicle, the occupants appeared to be hastily moving around. During the initial interaction, police observed evidence to support the presence of illicit drugs in plain view, within reach of the driver and front seat passenger. The driver made an attempt to conceal the drugs; however, the officer was aware of his efforts. The vehicle occupants were all placed under arrest for possession of drugs.

A continued investigation resulted in the discovery of crystal meth, crack cocaine and further evidence to support the trafficking of illicit drugs.

The vehicle has been held for further examination.

All parties were transported to police custody. Several of the vehicle occupants were bound by court orders which resulted in further charges being laid.

They are all scheduled to appear at the John Sopinka Courthouse later today.
