Hamilton Police have criminally charged a mother in an accidental fire with Criminal Negligence.

On February 22, 2020, shortly before 7:00 p.m., police attended a fire on the 6th floor of an apartment building at 44 Glen Road in Hamilton. The fire was contained inside one unit of a multi-floor high rise building.

Hamilton Fire located a 36-year-old female in the bedroom and a 3-year-old child lying on the floor by a couch and extensive fire damage inside. They were transported to a local hospital and treated for critical fire-related injuries.

Through investigative measures, the fire has been deemed to be accidental. However, evidence revealed a lack of parental supervision providing sufficient evidence to proceed with charges of Criminal Negligence.
