Pedestrian Fails to Follow the Rules of the Road, Police Arrest and Learn He is a Drug Dealer

On Tuesday, April 3, 2018 shortly before 1:00a.m., police were in the area of King Street West and Hess Street North when they became involved in a conversation with a male pedestrian. Moments earlier, the pedestrian walked out into the roadway without right of way, in front of a moving police vehicle causing the officer to brake suddenly to avoid a collision.

During the interaction with the pedestrian, a strong odour of fresh marihuana was detected from the male. He became evasive and uncooperative and police noted the information he provided, to be untruthful. He was arrested for obstructing police and further investigation revealed he was in possession of illicit drugs.

Charged:

Jervais Dunkley, 22 years of Hamilton

Charges:

  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking - Cocaine
  • Possession under 30 grams - Marijuana
  • Possession of Proceeds of Crime under $5000.00

Police have also seized approximately 26 grams of cocaine, 4 grams of marijuana, an undisclosed amount Canadian currency and cell phones.
