Person in Crisis Safely Apprehended

Hamilton Police has successfully apprehended a male after three hours of negotiations. The male was transported to the hospital for assessment. Roadways affected have been reopened.

On Tuesday, July 30, 2019, shortly 1:00 a.m., Hamilton Police received information about a male climbing a construction crane located near the intersection of Main Street East and Walnut Street South. Upon arrival at the scene, police secured the area and closed roadways surrounding the intersection. Negotiations with the person in crisis commenced as Hamilton Fire responded and Hamilton Paramedics were notified.

Shortly after 4:00 a.m., through negotiations with the male, Hamilton Police were able to safely apprehend him when he came down from the crane on his own. The male, 24- years-of-age of no fixed address was transported to the hospital for further assessment.

No injuries were incurred by anyone involved in the incident.

All roadways involved were reopened shortly after 4:30 a.m.
