Police Arrest Male on a Two Week Shoplifting Spree

A 37-year-old man of no fixed address will appear in court today after he was caught on a shoplifting spree.

On Tuesday, July 16, 2019, shortly before 1:30 p.m. Hamilton Police received information involving staff at the Metro Grocery Store located at 967 Fennell Avenue East. They were in pursuit of a male who had attempted to steal several packages of meat. While on route to the area police were updated, the male had changed his clothing. A short time later a male with a similar appearance was observed but he fled as police approached. The area was secured and the male was located hiding in a nearby backyard. A duffel bag and baby stroller which he used during the offence were recovered. Inside police found stolen items from several local stores valued at approximately $1000.

Through investigation, police learned that over a two week period the male attended stores in the area committing thefts.

The male was arrested and taken into police custody where it was determined he was currently bound by a probation order. His arrest signified several violations to that order.

A 37-year-old man, of no fixed address, is scheduled to appear in court later today to answer to several charges.
