Police Arrest Suspicious Male

Hamilton Police are investigating the recent actions of a suspicious male. He was arrested yesterday and appeared in court earlier today.

On Thursday, March 5, 2020, shortly before 3:30 p.m., Hamilton Police responded to the area of Mohawk Road East and Upper Wellington Street for a report of an assault that just occurred. Once on scene, police spoke with the victim who advised that he was walking his daughter home from school when he was confronted by a suspicious male. Without reason, the male threatened the victim and the safety of his daughter. The victim instructed his daughter to go home as he attempted to distract the male. The male subsequently assaulted the victim.

A short time later, police located the male in the immediate area. He was arrested and taken into custody. Through continued investigation, police have learned of two other recent incidents involving the male. One occurred moments before the assault, outside of Norwood Park Elementary School and the other on Tuesday, March 3, 2020, in the area of Dundurn Street South and Aberdeen Avenue. No physical contact occurred during either incident but in both cases the male’s verbal interactions with the complainants were considered troubling.

On Friday, March 6, 2020, the accused appeared at the John Sopinka Courthouse to answer to several criminal charges. He is scheduled to make a second appearance on Monday, March 9, 2020.
