Police Arrest Two Males for Street Robbery

Two suspects were arrested in relation to a street robbery. The suspects were in possession of a firearm at the time of the incident. After handing over an undisclosed amount of Canadian currency, the uninjured victims fled to safety. Police attended the area and located two of the three suspects and after a foot pursuit. The firearm used in the offence and a knife were located by police after an extensive search. The suspects appeared in court on Wednesday, October 10, 2018.

On Tuesday, October 9, 2018, shortly before 9:30 p.m. two males were in the area of King Street West and Caroline Street North, Hamilton. They were approached by three male suspects; one of the suspects displayed what the victim believed to be a firearm as he asked him for money. He was given an undisclosed amount of Canadian currency but demanded more. The victim turned over all of his cash and fled to safety with his friend. Hamilton Police received notification of the incident and attended the area. Within the hour, police observed a male acting suspiciously outside a convenience store in the area of King Street West and James Street. As police approached, another male matching one of the suspect descriptions exited the store. The suspects fled on foot in opposite directions but were later captured, one suspect remains outstanding.

After searching the area, police located the firearm used in the offence and a knife. Through investigation police determined the firearm was actually a flare gun that had been painted black.

The arrested parties appeared in court on Wednesday, October 10, 2018, to answer to the charges.
