Police Conclude Investigation of Pedestrian Fatality

The Hamilton Police Reconstruction Unit has concluded their investigation of a pedestrian fatality. At the time of the incident, the pedestrian was transported to the hospital for emergency medical treatment. He later succumbed to his injures. Charges are not being laid against the driver.

On Sunday, August 9, 2020, shortly after 12:30 p.m., a 53-year-old male from Scarborough was operating a large delivery vehicle eastbound on York Boulevard from Bay Street North. At the same time, a 57-year-old male pedestrian from Hamilton entered into the path of the vehicle and was struck. He was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries and the driver of the commercial vehicle remained on scene and cooperated with police.

On Tuesday, August 18, 2020, the pedestrian succumbed to his injuries in the hospital.

The Collision Reconstruction Unit has concluded the investigation. Detectives have ruled out speed, alcohol and driver error as contributing factors to the collision.

The driver will not be facing any charges.

At the request of the family, Hamilton Police will not be releasing the name of the deceased.
