Police have identified the second driver in relation to street racing fatality

Hamilton Police reconstruction unit is releasing further details of the fatal accident that occurred on Queenston Road and Delena Avenue shortly after 5:30 p.m., June 13, 2018.

Through the course of the investigation, it has been learned that just prior to the collision, two Mercedes Benz motor vehicles were actively engaged in a street race at speeds over twice the speed limit on Queenston Road. As the Toyota motor vehicle entered onto Queenston Road from a private drive near Delena Avenue, it was struck on the driver’s side by the silver Mercedes Benz vehicle. After the collision with the Toyota vehicle, the silver Mercedes Benz vehicle careened westbound in the eastbound lanes of Queenston Road causing a secondary collision with the Ford Escape vehicle.

The operator of the white Mercedes Benz vehicle failed to remain at the collision scene, leaving the area without providing any information or assistance to involved persons.

During this investigation and the assistance from witnesses, a second Hamilton male 23 year old has been identified as the operator of outstanding vehicle has been identified and arrested. He has now been brought before the courts and is remanded into custody until Monday, June 18, 2018. The white Mercedes Benz vehicle has been located, seized and will be examined for any evidence.
