Police Investigate Fire to Abandoned Home on Sulphur Springs

Hamilton Police responded to 820 Sulphur Springs Road in Ancaster to assist with a fire involving an abandoned house. The Hamilton Police Arson Unit continues to investigate the fire.

On August 27, 2019, shortly after 11:00 a.m. fire and police responded to an abandoned house fire. The house was sitting 200 meters from the roadway on 57 acres of rural property. When police and fire arrived the only structure standing was four exterior stone walls of the home.

At this point in the investigation, it is difficult to suggest whether or not this is a specifically targeted incident. In the past, the properties secluded location has provided an opportunity for various types of criminal offences ranging from trespassing, mischief to property, and arsons. Some of the past incidents have been classified by the Hamilton Police Service as a hate-related offence.

Hamilton Police Arson Unit continues to investigate in hopes of determining the cause of the fire.
