Police Investigate Assault on Main Street

Hamilton Police would like to identify an unknown male that demonstrated unusual behaviour while speaking with a 15-year-old female in the area of the Queenston Traffic Circle in Hamilton.

On March 19, 2020, shortly before 9:30 p.m., a 15-year-old was walking on the sidewalk near the intersection of Queenston Road and Strathearne Avenue. The male approached asking her to be “friends” and grabbed her hand. The girl yelled causing the male to flee.

On March 20, 2020, shortly before 10:19 p.m., the same girl was walking in the area of Main Street East and Strathearne Avenue by the Queenston Traffic Circle when the same male approached her again. The victim walked away after a brief verbal exchange occurred. The male continued to follow at a quick pace, grabbing her hip area. The victim activated a personal alarm that caused the suspect to flee westbound on Main Street East towards Strathearne Avenue.

Suspect Description:

  • Male, Asian
  • Early twenties
  • Short black hair
  • Plaid coat (possibly blue), hooded sweatshirt, baseball cap
  • Dark coloured track pants with white stripes and the word “CANADA” on the left leg
