Police Investigate Coffin Left in Front of Mayor’s Home

Last night, people from the Defund Police movement left a coffin in front of the mayor’s residence. Hamilton Police are investigating.

On Monday, November 30, 2020, shortly after 9:30 p.m., Hamilton Police responded to reports of a suspicious incident at a residential survey in the area of King Street East and the Red Hill Valley Parkway. Once on scene, officers noted a coffin filled with roses, accompanying plants and naloxone kits had been left in front of the mayor’s residence. The area was secured as police confirmed the safety of area residents, identified witnesses and searched for suspects.

Detectives from the East End Station Criminal Investigations Branch continue to investigate the incident.

There was a police presence in the area overnight, which is expected to continue throughout the day.
