Police Investigate Drowning Incident

Hamilton Police Detectives continue to investigate the drowning of a 30-year-old man in a residential pool who was visiting from the United States.

On Monday, July 15, 2019, shortly before 9:00 p.m., Hamilton Police received information about a male who was found at the bottom of a pool at a residence on Proctor Boulevard, Hamilton. The male had been swimming alone in the backyard pool as the homeowner was out front. When the owner returned to the rear yard he noticed the male at the bottom of the pool. He entered the pool, retrieved the male and with the assistance of a neighbour commenced CPR and called 9-1-1. Upon arrival, police continued CPR until Hamilton Paramedics relieved them.

The male was transported to the hospital and later pronounced deceased.

An autopsy procedure is scheduled for later today.

Efforts continue by Hamilton Police Detectives to notify the next-of-kin for the deceased male.
