Police Investigate Serial Arsonist

Hamilton Police continue to investigate a series of arsons at a place of worship and are asking for the public’s assistance in the identification of the suspect.

On Thursday, August 4, 2022, at 10:30 p.m., a male suspect was captured on video attending 57 Delaware Avenue, Hamilton.  The suspect caused mischief to the building by spray painting the exterior.  The suspect then proceeded to set fire to an exterior doorway at the rear of the building.  The suspect then fled on foot.   

On Friday, August 5, 2022, Hamilton Police responded to a second fire at the same location.
Investigation revealed the suspect on video at approximately 9:30 p.m. setting fire to the front entrance of the building.  The suspect then fled on foot.

Investigators are asking for the public’s assistance to check home or business video surveillance systems during the above dates and times in efforts to identify the suspect. 

The suspect is described as:

·         Male

·         Light skin

·         Medium Height and weight

·         Clean shaven

·         Black hooded sweatshirt with a Hockey Canada Emblem

·         Dark pants

·         Dark shoes

·         Incident #1 Suspect was carrying a black reusable bag with white lettering on it

·         Incident #2 Suspect was carrying a yellow shopping bag with black lettering on it
