Police Investigate Threat at Bishop Ryan

Hamilton Police continue to investigate the source of the threat made to Bishop Ryan Catholic Secondary School earlier this morning.

Shortly after 8:00 a.m. on October 29, 2018, police responded to Bishop Ryan located at 1824 Rymal Road East, after the school received two phone calls from an unknown male threatening to bring a weapon to school and harm staff and students. The school was placed in Lockdown.

After a lengthy search, the school was found to be safe and the Lockdown was lifted at 12:30 p.m. Hamilton Police did not find any evidence to support a valid threat.

Hamilton Police recognize the importance of school safety and how a threat of this nature can be difficult for students and their families. We take incidents such as these extremely seriously and appreciate everyone’s patience as we worked to clear the school.
