Police Seize Loaded Handgun, Drugs and Cash during Drug Investigation

A firearm, illicit drugs, cash and other evidence to support the trafficking of drugs were seized after a police investigation. Five males were arrested and are now facing numerous criminal charges

On Thursday, November 28, 2019, shortly before 11: 00 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Parkdale Avenue North and Barton Street East, on a Mazda 3 sedan that was believed to be involved in criminal activity. The registered owner of the Mazda 3 was a suspended driver. The driver was confirmed to be the registered owner during which time illicit drugs and paraphernalia were observed in plain view. The five males inside the vehicle were arrested. Further investigation revealed the presence of additional drugs, multiple cellphones, cash and a loaded firearm.

The five males were taken into police custody and are scheduled to appear at the John Sopinka Courthouse today to answer to several criminal charges.

Evidence collected at the scene was seized for court proceedings.
