Police Seize Loaded Shotgun During Overnight Traffic Stop

An overnight vehicle stop in the area of Birge Street and Victoria Avenue North has led to the seizure of a firearm, illicit drugs and the arrest of a 22-year-old Hamilton man.

In the early morning hours of Thursday, January 13, 2022, while conducting proactive patrol Hamilton Police observed a driver violate the Highway Traffic Act, subsequently a traffic stop was conducted and a 22-year-old male arrested.

The vehicle, a grey Toyota Camry was reported stolen. The vehicle was seized for further investigation, as a result police located a quantity of illicit drugs including methamphetamine and fentanyl. Police also located a loaded modified prohibited shotgun inside the vehicle.
