Proactive Traffic Stop Results in Drug Arrests

Hamilton Police continue to scour the streets in an effort to proactively identify criminal activities. A traffic stop in the area of Upper Ottawa and Mohawk Road resulted in the arrest of three people in possession of illicit drugs. Police seized Methamphetamine, MDMA (Ecstasy) and Ketamine. The occupants of the vehicle will appear in court on Tuesday, November 13, 2018, to answer to several criminal charges.

On Monday, November 12, 2018, shortly after 8:00 p.m., police observed a 2003 Honda Odessy travelling northbound on Upper Ottawa Street in the area of Mohawk Road, Hamilton. The attention of the officer was drawn to the vehicle as it was operating without headlights. A traffic stop was conducted during which time the three occupants became evasive. The driver failed to properly identify himself and was arrested. During the arrest procedure police located illicit drugs inside the vehicle. The two other occupants were arrested which lead the discovery of additional drugs.

Further investigation revealed the occupants had court order conditions prohibiting them from association.

  • 3 grams of Methamphetamine
  • 0.5 grams of MDMA (Ecstasy)
  • 0.5 grams of Ketamine
  • Drug paraphernalia with residue

The three occupants will appear in court on Tuesday, November 12, 2018, to answer to several criminal charges.

  • Drive motor vehicle no licence
  • Drive vehicle without proper light 

Hamilton man, 27 years

  • Fail to Comply Recognizance (X2)

Haldimand woman, 25 years

  • Possession of controlled substance- Methamphetamine
  • Possession of controlled substance- MDMA
  • Possession of controlled substance- Ketamine
  • Fail to Comply Undertaking
