Robbery Suspect Charged

The Hamilton Police BEAR Unit has continued to investigate the robbery of a Busy Bee Convenience Store on March 3, 2019. The suspect has been identified and arrested. Two search warrants were executed and a firearm was located. The suspect appeared in court on Wednesday, March 6, 2019.

On Sunday, March 3, 2019, shortly before 4:30 p.m., a male suspect attended the Busy Bee Convenience located at 1528 Barton Street East. The suspect selected merchandise and approached the clerk at the counter. The suspect then reached into his pocket and produced a firearm. A demand was made for money from the clerk. The suspect obtained an undisclosed amount of Canadian currency before fleeing the scene.

Through investigation, police were able to identify the suspect. On Tuesday, March 5, 2019, shortly after 11:30 a.m., the suspect was arrested by the Hamilton Police Service in the area of Melvin Avenue and Parkdale Avenue, Hamilton.

Hamilton Police have executed two search warrants at locations related to the suspect. Police have recovered the firearm believed to have been used in the robbery; a pellet gun modified to fire 9 mm ammunition.

David Hachey has appeared at the John Sopinka Courthouse today to answer to robbery and several firearm-related charges.
