Stolen Cab Thief Turns Himself into Police

A Hamilton Blue Line was cab stolen overnight and driven erratically from the mountain area to downtown Hamilton. The vehicle came to stop within feet of the Hamilton Police Headquarters’ signs. The driver has been arrested and charged with several offences.

On Monday, June 3, 2018, shortly before 11:00 p.m., a Hamilton Blue Line cab was stolen in the area of Fennel Avenue and Governors Boulevard. The cab was taken by the customer after a physical exchange with the driver. It was then driven in a dangerous manner, narrowly missing several parked vehicles on the way to Central Station, where it came to rest nearly striking the Hamilton Police Headquarters sign.

No injuries were incurred during the incident.

A 29-year-old man of no fixed address has been arrested and charged with Robbery, Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Breach of Probation X4.

He will appear in court later today to answer to the charges.
