Stolen Vehicle Driving on Two Flat Tires Draws Public Attention

Police charge two Welland citizens with theft and possession of a stolen vehicle.

On May 13, 2019, shortly before 7:30 a.m., police received a call about a vehicle driving erratically on two flat tires in the area of Upper James and Rymal Road, Hamilton.

Police located a Ford Escape driving northbound on Upper James Street by the Lincoln Alexander Parkway (LINC). When police approached the vehicle there was evidence of heavy damage underneath, two popped tires and a front side headlight smashed.

Police identified the male passenger was wanted by Niagara Regional Police for Fail to Attend Court and the driver was unlicensed. Further investigation revealed the vehicle was stolen from a Welland resident shortly after 10:00 p.m. on May 12, 2019.

The driver and passenger were placed under arrest and charged with the following offences.

Charged: Male (23-year-old) Welland resident

  • Adult - Possession Over $5000 

Released on a Promise to Appear and expected to attend John Sopinka Courthouse on June 6, 2019. Niagara Regional Police took custody of the male for the outstanding warrant.

Charged: Female (21-year-old) Welland resident

  • Adult - Vehicle Theft
  • Adult - Possession Over $5000
  • Provincial Offence Notice – Drive motor vehicle no licence and Fail to Surrender Insurance Card
