Sunglass Wearing Bandit Caught

A Hamilton man faces several robbery charges relating to three separate bank robberies in the city.

Hamilton Police continued their investigation into three bank robberies from:

  • April 11, 2019 – Scotia Bank at 1070 Stone Church Road East, Hamilton
  • April 12, 2019 – Bank of Montreal at 1128 Fennell Road East, Hamilton
  • April 12, 2019 – Bank of Montreal at 290 Queenston Road, Hamilton

During each of these robberies, a lone male entered the banks disguising himself with sunglasses and handing a note to bank employees demanding money. The male was able to obtain an undisclosed amount of cash from the April 11th incident. There were no reported injuries.

On Monday, April 15, 2019, police arrested and charged 51-year-old James Murphy from Hamilton with several robbery charges.

  • Robbery x 3
  • Disguise with intent x 3
