Suspended Driver Nabbed for Stunt Driving

Last night Hamilton Police arrested a 23- year-old Hamilton man for Stunt Driving. He had been driving while his licence was suspended. The driver was issued two court summons and his vehicle has been seized for seven days.

On Wednesday, December 5, 2018, shortly before 10:00 p.m., Hamilton Police were on proactive patrol on Upper Wentworth Street near Stonechurch Road when a white Ford F-150 was observed committing a Highway Traffic Act offence before entering the roadway. The vehicle, now travelling northbound on Upper Wentworth proceeded to accelerate a high rate of speed, overtaking traffic. It is believed the vehicle reached a speed of 126 km/hr before police were able to safely conduct a traffic stop. The posted speed limit for Upper Wentworth is 50 km/hr.

The driver, a 23-year-old Hamilton man was arrested for Stunt Driving. Investigation revealed his driver’s licence was suspended.

Police have issued the driver two court summons in relation to the incident. He will appear on Thursday, January 10, 2019, to answer to the charges.

The vehicle was seized in accordance with the Highway Traffic Act for seven days.
