Traffic Stop Leads to Seizure of Firearms Drugs and Money

Hamilton Police stop a motor vehicle with an obstructed licence plate. Investigation revealed firearms, drugs and a large quantity of Canadian currency were located inside the vehicle. The driver was arrested and held for Bail Court.

On Monday, March 5, 2018, shortly after 1:30 p.m., Hamilton police observed a black 2009 Dodge Caravan travelling eastbound on Barton Street East at East Avenue North. The vehicle was stopped as a result of the rear licence plate being obstructed.

When police approached, they detected a strong odour of Marijuana from the cabin of the vehicle. The driver began acting nervous as he attempted to hide something underneath the seat. He was arrested and the vehicle searched.

Investigation revealed the driver was possession of a loaded shotgun, a rifle, a 9mm pistol, a large quantity of cash and marijuana.

Charged:

50-year-old Hamilton man has been held for a Bail Hearing scheduled Tuesday, March 6, 2018.
