Two Arrested after Altered Rifle Found Inside Stolen Van

Two Hamilton residents face multiple firearm charges after they were located in a stolen vehicle in the Maplewood Avenue area, Hamilton.

On Saturday, July 6, 2019, shortly after 7:30 p.m., police answered a trespasser call in an alleyway between Maplewood Avenue and Balsam Avenue South, Hamilton. When Police arrived they found a stolen Dodge Caravan parked with a male and female inside. The occupants tried to exit the vehicle but they were quickly placed under arrest. Police located a quantity of methamphetamine and counterfeit US currency in their possession as well as an altered .22 caliber rifle inside the stolen van.

The parties were transported to custody and now face multiple firearm and possession charges.

Ruby Watton (47-years-old female) Hamilton resident

Charges:

  • Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
  • Occupant of Motor Vehicle knowing there was Firearm
  • Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm/Weapon
  • Careless Use, Carry, Transport, Storage of Firearm
  • Possession Under $5000

Watton was released on a Promise to Appear.

Michael Robinson (41-years) Hamilton resident

Charges:

  • Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
  • Occupant of Motor Vehicle knowing there was Firearm
  • Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm/Weapon
  • Careless Use, Carry, Transport, Storage of Firearm
  • Possession Under $5000
  • Possession of Methamphetamine
  • Possessing Counterfeit money

Robinson was held for bail opposition.
