UPDATE: Police Charge Man in Shooting Earlier this Month

Hamilton Police have arrested a 31-year-old Hamilton man for his involvement in a shooting outside of a bar earlier this month.

On Sunday, May 7, 2023, shortly after midnight, Hamilton Police responded to the area of Crockett Street and East 34th Street after receiving calls for shots fired.

Police located evidence consistent with that of a shooting and entered into an investigation.

On Wednesday, May 17, 2023, Hamilton Police arrested the alleged gunman, Joseph Soules.

CHARGES:

·        Discharge Firearm with Intent

·        Unauthorized Possession of Firearm

·        Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm

·        Possession of a Loaded Prohibited Firearm

·        Occupant of a Motor Vehicle knowing there was a Firearm

·        Reckless Discharge of a Firearm

·        Carless Use, Carry, Transport, Storage of Firearm

·        Possession of a Firearm Contrary to Order

·        Possession of a Firearm Contrary to Order

·        Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine

·        Proceeds of Crime Under $5000

Vehicle and residential search warrants were executed on the west mountain and investigators located a loaded prohibited firearm and a quantity of illicit drugs which have an estimated street value of over $100,000.
