Hamilton Police Remind Public Not to Leave Vehicle Running While Unattended

A 34-year-old Hamilton man has been arrested and charged with theft after a car was left running unattended.

On Thursday, January 4, 2018, shortly after 5:30 p.m., police investigated the theft of a rental vehicle that been left unlocked and running prior to being rented out to a customer. The incident was captured on video surveillance.

On Tuesday, January 9, 2018, shortly after 9:30 a.m., the stolen auto was observed by the rental agency employees operating on Main Street, east of Gage Avenue. Police were contacted and responded to the area but the driver had already abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot. Officers were able to locate and pursue the accused who was eventually captured and arrested.
