Wanted Party Arrested During Suspended Driver Investigation

A Hamilton Police Officer on proactive patrol recognized a vehicle from a suspended driver incident in January. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver from the previous incident was the passenger this time. Due to the existence of two outstanding warrants he was arrested. He will appear in court on Thursday, February 28, 2019.

On Wednesday, February 27, 2019, shortly before 5:00 p.m., Hamilton Police observed a red 2013 Ford Fusion operating in the area of Cannon Street East Wellington Street North. The officer recognized the motor vehicle from a previous suspended driver incident in January. Recalling the identification of the driver in that incident the officer believed there existed a current warrant for his arrest. A traffic stop was conducted at the above-stated intersection. The male party from the driving incident in January was, in fact, the passenger in this incident. The investigation into the passenger revealed two outstanding warrants, one with Hamilton Police related to driving while under suspension and possession of illicit drugs and the second with a neighbouring police service. He was arrested without incident and transported to police custody. Due to the history of failing to attend court the male was held for a bail hearing scheduled for Thursday, February 28, 2019.
