Hamilton Male Suffers Fatal Wound

Hamilton Police Service is investigating the first Homicide of 2019.

Around 5.55 p.m. on January 30, 2019, Hamilton Police received a 911 call regarding a shooting that had just occurred at 56 Mountain Brow Blvd, Hamilton. When EMS and police arrived they found a 44-year-old male suffering from a fatal wound.

The Major Crime Unit was called in to investigate and Forensic Identification officers commenced processing the scene.

Investigators have spoken to the immediate family who has asked police for time to allow extended family members to be notified prior to releasing the victim’s name.

The Major Crime Unit, along with ACTION team members, will be conducting a canvass of the area this morning and the Forensic Identification officers will return to the residence today to continue their work. Investigators believe this was a targeted incident.

A post mortem was scheduled for 9 a.m. this morning at Hamilton General Hospital's Forensic Pathology Unit.
