HPS Releases Suspect Description in Luppino Homicide

Investigators with the Hamilton Police Service Major Crime Unit are releasing a suspect description following the murder of Cece Luppino and are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

Detectives have been reviewing video surveillance from the scene, as well as surrounding streets and businesses, as they continue to investigate the homicide.

As a result, investigators now believe the murder occurred at approximately 3:10 p.m. on January 30, 2019.

The suspect is described as male, black, average or athletic build, wearing a black waist-length winter coat black pants, black boots, black toque, and grey shirt.

The victim arrived home several minutes beforehand and soon after the suspect appeared on the east sidewalk of Rendell Blvd from the south side. He is observed milling around for a short period before walking through the neighbouring property at 52 Mountain Brow Blvd, and into the victim’s open garage. After the shooting, the suspect flees in the same direction and was last seen running southbound on Rendell Blvd.

From reviewing the available security footage, investigators do not believe the victim was being followed, but rather a static surveillance technique was being utilized. For this reason, investigators are asking members of the public, who were in and around the area of the Bill Foley Parkette over the past week, and who may have noticed a male matching the suspect or any other suspicious activity or vehicles in the park, particularly in the parking lot, to contact them.

Investigators have been unable to confirm if the gunman was alone or had an accomplice. There is no confirmed vehicle description at this time but a dark coloured, four-door sedan was observed in the area around the time of the incident and may be involved.

If you have any information that you believe could assist Police with the investigation into this crime you are asked to contact Detective Doug Jonovich by calling 905-546-4863.
