Hamilton Police Arrest Two in Mount Hope Homicide and Abduction

Hamilton Police have continued to investigate the brutal kidnapping of Faqir Ali and the murder of his son Hasnain (Nano) Ali since September of 2021. Two additional arrests in relation to the fatal home invasion have been made.

On Thursday, September 16, 2021, at approximately 2:55 a.m., Hamilton Police were called to a Mount Hope residence for reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, police found two males in their 20s suffering from gunshot wounds. The males were transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries. Hasnain (Nano) Ali subsequently succumbed to his injuries, while his father, Faqir Ali, was forcibly taken from the home in a dark SUV. Mr. Ali was violently assaulted before he was found near Beach Boulevard in Hamilton.

Investigators have now arrested 25-year-old John Bartley and 35-year-old Gino McCall of Hamilton with the first degree murder of Hasnain (Nano) Ali, attempted murder, kidnapping and aggravated assault in relation to this incident.

Both individuals were arrested in the City of Hamilton without incident on Wednesday, August 31, 2022 by the Homicide Unit. They will have brief appearances in court today.
