Hamilton Police Conclude Red Hill Fatality Investigation

The Hamilton Police Collision Reconstruction Unit has concluded its investigation into a fatal collision that occurred on the Red Hill Valley Parkway (RHVP) in mid-January. After a six-month investigation, no charges have been laid in connection with the incident.

On Monday, January 17, 2022, shortly after 6:30 a.m., a 67-year-old Hamilton man was travelling northbound on the RHVP near the Queenston Road Bridge when his vehicle became stuck in the snow at the side of the road. While checking the vehicle for external damage, the driver and vehicle were struck by a snow plow. Evidence suggests the driver was unaware the vehicle or driver had been struck.

Sadly, the male succumbed to his injuries on January 29, 2022.

After reviewing all the factors involved in this collision, the legal threshold required to lay a charge was not met.

The collision marked Hamilton’s second motor fatality of 2022.
