Hamilton Police Investigating Hamilton's 6th Homicide

Hamilton Police Service is seeking witnesses to Hamilton's sixth homicide of 2018.

On Sunday, September 23, 2018, just after 4:00 a.m., Hamilton Police received reports of a male victim who had been reportedly shot in the area of 470 Beach Rd. in the city's east end.

The victim was transported by a group of people in a single vehicle in an attempt to get him to the hospital. Enroute to the hospital, the vehicle transporting the victim came upon the Hamilton Fire Department in the area of Dalhousie and Ottawa St. N. It was at that point the victim was able to be transferred to an ambulance and was transported to the Hamilton General Hospital by paramedics.

The victim was later pronounced deceased at the hospital at approximately 6:00 a.m. this morning. Homicide investigators from the Hamilton Police Service Major Crime Unit were then called in to investigate. Investigators are currently interviewing witnesses and are appealing to the public for assistance.

The victim is a male, in his late teens. No other information can be made available at this time as Next of Kin has not yet been located and notified. Hamilton Police Service ACTION Team will be in the area of the crime scene conducting a canvass this morning. A suspect or suspects have not been identified as this investigation is in the extremely early stages.
