On Monday, June 27, 2022, at approximately 2:55 a.m., Hamilton Police were flagged down by a witness in the area of 353 Barton Street East after a female was found to be seriously assaulted in a nearby alleyway.  The 46-year-old victim was transported to hospital in life-threatening condition.  She remains in hospital.

 Investigators have determined based on evidence that this assault contained a sexual component and are treating this as a sexual assault investigation.

Police are seeking the following suspect:

• Male, black
• Young
• Tall
• Short braided hair 
• Black and white track suit as pictured 

The suspect was last seen wearing a black and white track suit.  He fled  on foot westbound on Barton Street East.

Police will be in the area for the majority of the day canvassing for both witnesses and video.
