Male Shot With BB Gun During Altercation

On November 9, 2019, at approximately 2:00 a.m., Hamilton Police Service received a 9-1-1 call regarding a shooting incident that occurred at a residence in the area of Cannon Street East and Wentworth Street North.

On arrival, police located a 58-year-old male victim who had sustained non-life threatening injuries after he was shot in the face with a BB gun by a male suspect. The shooting occurred following a verbal argument and the victim was targeted. The victim was medically treated at the scene by Hamilton Paramedics, transported to hospital and then released.

Divisional Detectives assumed the investigation and as a result of information received, judicial authorization was granted that allowed officers to conduct a search of a residence believed to be that of the suspect. Given the nature of the incident, members of the Emergency Response Unit attended and assisted with the search.

The identity of the male responsible for the shooting has been established, and as such, an arrest warrant will be applied for the arrest of a 22-year-old male. The identity of the male will be released once the information has been sworn to and brought properly before the Court.

Charges: Assault with a weapon, Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, Uttering threats, Failing to comply with a Recognizance.
