Motorcyclist Suffers Fatal Injuries in Collision With a Motor Vehicle

Hamilton Police are searching for a driver and possible passengers involved in a collision that killed a motorcyclist.

On Monday, May 17, 2021, shortly after 11:00 p.m., Hamilton Police and Hamilton Paramedics responded to Limeridge Road East, just west of Upper Kenilworth Avenue in the City of Hamilton for a motor vehicle collision between a yellow 2003 Kawasaki motorcycle and grey 2020 Hyundai Sonata.

Preliminary information indicates that a grey 2020 Hyundai Sonata was travelling eastbound on Limeridge Road East and began to conduct a U-Turn. The male motorcycle driver then struck the driver’s side of the Hyundai and the motorcyclist became wedged under the vehicle. The Hyundai driver completed a U-Turn and continued westbound 100 metres with the motorcyclist dragging under the vehicle.

The driver and possible passengers of the Hyundai exited the vehicle and fled the scene.

Hamilton Paramedics, Hamilton Fire and Hamilton Police responded to the collision and the victim was pronounced dead on scene. Investigation is being conducted by the Collision Reconstruction Unit and Mountain Station Detectives.

Police have yet to learn the identity of the motorcyclist or the Hyundai vehicle driver and possible passengers.

Speed and driver impairment have not yet been ruled out as factors involved in the investigation.
