Police Investigate Fatal Collision Involving an SUV and Motorcycle

The Hamilton Police Collison Reconstruction Unit continues to investigate the city’s sixth driving fatality for 2020.

On Saturday, May 16, 2020, shortly after 12:00 p.m., a motorcycle travelling southbound on Upper James Street collided with an SUV in the intersection of Upper James Street and Fennell Ave, Hamilton. The rider, a 25-year-old male from Hamilton was operating a 2013 Kawasaki motorcycle and the driver, a 50-year-old male was operating a 2019 Cadillac Escalade SUV. At the time of the collision, the SUV had started to turn left to travel west on Fennell Ave.

Hamilton Police and emergency service partners immediately responded to the collision. The rider was transported to the hospital for further medical treatment. He later succumbed to his injuries. The driver of the SUV was not injured in the collision.

The intersection was closed for several hours as officers processed the scene.

The Collision Reconstruction Unit is investigating this collision and at this time investigators have not ruled out any contributing factors.
