UPDATE: No Charges Laid for 6th Driving Fatality

Detectives have concluded their investigation into the sixth driving fatality in Hamilton for 2020. After reviewing all the evidence gathered, no criminal charges will be laid.

On Saturday, May 16, 2020, shortly after 12:00 p.m., Hamilton Police Reconstruction Detectives investigated a collision involving a Kawasaki motorcycle and a Cadillac Escalade SUV. The collision occurred at Upper James Street and Fennell Avenue. The rider of the motorcycle was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. He later succumbed to his injuries.

Through continued investigation, detectives have determined speed and impairment were contributing factors in the collision. As a result, there will be no charges laid against the driver of the SUV.
