Suspect Arrested in Musitano and Barberi Homicides

Canada-wide Warrants Issued for Two Others

Hamilton Police Service has arrested one man and issued Canada-wide warrants for two others for the 2017 murders of Angelo Musitano and Mila Barberi, as well as the attempted murder of Saverio Serrano.

The arrest comes after a year-long investigation dubbed Project Scopa. In September 2017, a link was established connecting the murder of Angelo Musitano in May 2017, with the murder of Mila Barberi.and the attempted murder of Saverio Serrano in March 2017. Angelo Musitano was gunned down in his Waterdown driveway and Baberi was shot and killed in a parking lot in Vaughan, while her boyfriend Saverio Serrano suffered two gunshot wounds to his arm.

Project SCOPA involved members from Hamilton Police Service, RCMP, York Regional Police Service and Toronto Police Service. The Niagara Regional Police, Canada Border and Security Agency, Drug Enforcement Agency, Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Department of Homeland Security also provided assistance throughout the investigation.

“This was a particularly difficult crime to solve given the complexity of the investigation across various jurisdictions,” said Hamilton Police Chief Eric Girt. “As law enforcement agencies, we continue to align our resources to address community safety priorities. This arrest signals the successful outcome of interagency cooperation.”

Jabril Hassan Abdalla, 27, of Hamilton, has been arrested. Canada-wide warrants have also been issued for Michael Graham Cudmore, 37, from Hamilton and Daniel Mario Tomassetti, 27, of Ancaster. All three individuals are facing the following charges:

  • First Degree Murder x2
  • Attempted Murder
  • Conspiracy to Commit Murder x3

Project SCOPA Investigators have executed over 150 Judicial Authorizations and viewed thousands of hours of video in order to solve these murders.

Michael Cudmore and Daniel Tomassetti are both believed to have fled to Mexico. Police are encouraging Cudmore and Tomassetti to turn themselves into police. Anyone assisting these individuals to escape or evade arrest will be charged with Accessory After the Fact to Murder.
