Police respond to a child abduction at Jackson Square

Police responded to a 9-1-1 call where witnesses observed a young woman grab a four-year-old from her mother’s side and attempt to flee.

Today, June 20, 2018, shortly after 11:00 a.m., police attended the area of King Street East and Summers Lane for reports of a child abduction occurring just outside the Jackson Square Mall doors on King Street East and Summers Lane.

A 19-year-old female from Hamilton has been charged with child abduction.

The accused is currently in police custody with a bail hearing set for tomorrow morning at John Sopinka Courthouse.
