UPDATE: Driver Charged in Collision

Hamilton Police Collision Reconstruction Unit has charged the driver, after a collision involving motor vehicle and cyclist, sent the cyclist to hospital.

On Thursday, July 22, 2021, shortly before 2p.m., Emergency Services responded for a collision involving a cyclist and a motor vehicle at the intersection of Bay Street and Jackson Street in the City of Hamilton.

The cyclist was riding northbound on Bay Street in the bike lane. The vehicle driver, also northbound on Bay Street, had initially stopped for traffic before proceeding to make a left turn onto Jackson Street, in front of the bicycle. The cyclist collided with the vehicle as a result. The male cyclist was transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Hamilton Police have now laid a charge against the driver of the 2018 BMW motor vehicle in regards to this collision.

The 38-year-old cyclist from Hamilton remains in hospital undergoing treatment for his injuries but is now listed in stable condition.
