Vehicle and Suspect Description Released in Michael Campbell Homicide

Hamilton Police Service continues to encourage witnesses to come forward in the Michael Campbell homicide.

At approximately 1:30 a.m. on August 8, 2018, there was a shooting on East Avenue, just north of King in Central Hamilton.

As a result of this shooting, Michael Campbell was killed and three other persons suffered non-life-threatening gunshot injuries.

Witnesses have come forward and Hamilton Police have received some cooperation in identifying the various patrons who came and went from Sheila’s Bar in the hours leading up to the murder. It is a possibility that the shooting was a result of an earlier dispute that occurred inside the bar, and that Michael was not the intended target.

We are now comfortable releasing a description of the shooter:

  • Male, Black
  • Wearing all black clothing- a hoodie and shorts which revealed very skinny legs. (described by a witness as ‘chicken legs’)
  • Believed to be between 5’8 and 6 foot.

A 2016-2018 Hyundai Tucson, Grey/Silver in colour is also believed to be involved in this murder.

It is important that witnesses come forward with information about the shooter and/or this vehicle. It remains a possibility that the actual owner of this vehicle was not directly involved in the murder, but that they have vital information which needs to be shared with police.
