Police have identified the female who was found with vital signs absent inside the apartment at 104 Beach Road on Monday night. She is 22-year-old Rebekah Pezze from Hamilton.

Misinformation has been circulating that the female victim was pregnant. Police and Rebekah’s family can confirm she was not pregnant. The autopsy revealed she died as result of the fire and suffered no external trauma.

The Ontario Fire Marshal along with Hamilton Police Arson and Forensic Investigators are processing the fire scene today.

Major Crime Unit detectives are continuing to interview witnesses and investigate the circumstances. The Hamilton Police Video Technician is gathering surveillance footage from identified local businesses and residences that may assist in this case.
