Stepping Up Enforcement on Speed and Excessive Noise

Hamilton Police continue to respond to complaints of excessive speed and noise on Hamilton’s streets. Since January 2020, Hamilton Police have handed out 133 stunt-driving tickets compared to 80 in 2019. There has also been an increase in community complaints related to modified vehicles and excessive noise.

Beginning on September 25 to October 8, 2020, Hamilton Police will introduce Project Drag Strip 8 to target Highway 8 from Centennial Parkway to Fifty Road. This initiative will also move across the city as required.

Project Pit Stop, which ran from July 3 to July 19, 2020, resulted in Hamilton Police issuing 128 Provincial Offence Notices, 58 Part 3 Summons for more serious offences under the Highway Traffic Act (HTA), and made 13 Criminal Code arrests and towed 19 vehicles.

Hamilton Police are committed to making our streets and neighbourhoods safer for all. If you are an individual who modifies your vehicle, please make sure you check with all Highway Traffic Act rules and regulations to ensure the modifications are legal. Do not render your vehicle unsafe to drive or disruptive to our peace. Slow down and respect our community.
