Four Suspects Arrested in City's 9th Homicide

Hamilton Police Major Crime investigators have continued to work through the night interviewing dozens of witnesses. As a result, two teens have been charged with first degree murder in the death of 14-year-old Sir Winston Churchill Secondary School student Devan Selvey.

A 14-year-old male and 18-year-old male, both from Hamilton, have appeared at the John Sopinka Courthouse, 45 Main Street East to answer to the charge. There is a court-ordered publication ban on releasing the name of the adult male accused.

Earlier this morning a 16-year-old male and a 16-year-old female were also arrested for first degree murder and brought to Central Station for interviews. They currently remain in custody. Hamilton Police are investigating their involvement and are satisfied they are the outstanding suspects described yesterday.

Under the regulations of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, the youths cannot be identified.

Police have continued to canvass the area and the community has been supportive in providing information. Investigators are grateful for their assistance.

A ground search for the murder weapon was conducted this morning and Hamilton Police believe the murder weapon has been located.

Due to the fact this homicide investigation involves numerous youths, we cannot speak further about evidence in this matter.
