Hamilton Police Arrest Male in Morning Shooting

Hamilton Police have arrested a male suspect in an early morning shooting in the Stoney Creek area which left a man injured.

On Wednesday, July 28, 2021 shortly after 6:45 a.m., Hamilton Police responded to the area of Centennial Parkway and QEW Niagara after receiving reports of a shooting.

A 40-year-old male was located and had sustained injuries consistent with gun shot wounds. He was transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The suspect(s) fled on foot to 524 Centennial Parkway North to which they made demands to a male transport truck driver, subsequently taking the vehicle and fleeing the area.

Through continued investigation, police learned the suspect abandon the stolen vehicle and fled into a residence in the area of Royce Avenue.

After negotiation the accused was safety arrested.

A 24-year-old male has been arrested for various firearm related offences and further updates will be provided once available.

It is important to note that the male responsible for this violent incident is being held in custody for a bail hearing scheduled for Thursday, July 29, 2021 and as such, cannot be identified at this time.

Police believe that this was a targeted incident.

Investigators continue to work through this investigation as it remains on-going.
